EW SURF SC families,
Eastern Washington Surf SC is proud and excited to announce an official merger with the Academy of Soccer Excellence (ASE) effective May 1st, 2020! After nearly a year of due diligence and deliberations a decision was made to bring together two premier youth soccer organizations one year ahead of schedule in order to focus on player development and to maintain a competitive edge in today’s complicated youth soccer landscape. EW Surf SC is committed to creating experiences and opportunities for our youth and are excited to announce our next step towards achieving this goal.
The clubs that have merged to create the EW SURF SC family each bring a long standing history, unparalleled knowledge, and the expertise necessary to provide a pathway for all local youth participants to achieve a meaningful soccer experience. While we value and acknowledge the importance of history and tradition, continued innovation is necessary to provide an even greater and broader level of service to all of our student athletes. Each of our clubs has worked to provide a player experience in keeping with its mission and key values, which means by joining forces we can further focus on our core values and deliver quality training and life lessons on and off the field.
Together, we are able to combine the talents and abilities of dedicated youth soccer leaders throughout the Inland Northwest. We will remain true to our mission and remain unwavering in providing the highest caliber of coaching and programming. The addition of ASE to the Surf family will not only enhance our ability to compete locally, regionally, and nationally but also provide access to soccer that is not limited by location, socioeconomics or ability. This merger, one year in the making, will further enforce our already robust Camps and Clinics, Academy, College Preparation Programs and opportunities for our players to cross train and player pass.
The greatest assets of EW SURFS SC has always been our families. This move will create more depth and a more comprehensive infrastructure to offer a wide array of training and playing opportunities for our members across all levels of play. ASE has operated with integrity and share similar philosophies on training, coaching, club operations, and a clear understanding of importance of outstanding member service delivery for those we serve.
We are confident that our members will see the value of this merger and welcome our newest member of now over 1,300 player strong Eastern Washington Surf Soccer Club. We look forward to achieving our goals and tackling all new future endeavors together as one strong EW SURF SC.
“As a Coach and Club President, I am very excited for our club to merge with EW Surf SC. This will provide an opportunity for our players, coaches and soccer community that we haven't ever seen in our area. We now have a national connection with San Diego Surf Soccer and local support with EW Surf SC which includes Spokane, Palouse and now Columbia Basin. This is a very exciting time to be part of the Tri-Cities soccer community.”
-Craig Griffiths, ASE President
“As one of the original founders of ASE, I did not take the move to EW Surf SC lightly. However, as I looked at the idea of joining the Surf family, I couldn't find anything but positives for ASE and the Tri-Cities communities. This move will benefit the Tri-Cities area and help bring soccer for local youth to an entirely new level. I am excited for the new direction EW Surf SC will take our community and to be a part of the continued success of youth sports in the area.”
-Ryan Stout, ASE Director of Coaching
“Surrounding myself with people with integrity and incredible work ethic has taught me that we can achieve great things when we work together. ASE shares our same values and their desire to deliver quality soccer experience to all of their players made me realize that we can accomplish something special if we join forces. I look forward to building an even better EW SURF SC with our newest addition.”
-Jerry Cardenas, EW SURF SC Executive Director
